crack-ish
I've been trying to be more active in my sketchbook lately... working and writing a bit more intuitively than usual. Here's a little something I did today. It's charcoal and magazine cut-out. I've been really drawn to this vertical crack-ish form for some reason. I keep seeing it everywhere and unconsciously configuring things into this shape. The installation I'm working on, for example, is starting to form a central crack/space as well. I'm not sure what the attraction is. There's something scaleless about it I think. It's spacial in a sense. It could suggest a coming together or a pulling apart. Perhaps it reveals something beyond or underneath the surface. I'm not entirely sure... got to keep thinking about it.
